Slocan Valley residents: drinking water still isn’t safe

Slocan Valley residents: drinking water still isn’t safe - image

Residents in the Slocan Valley are still struggling weeks after thousands of liters of jet fuel spilled into Lemon Creek.

The water advisory was lifted in the valley five days ago and people were told that all water drawn from the area was safe to drink or use for recreational purposes.

But many say their well water still has a lingering smell and the sheen of fuel on the surface.

They’re also frustrated they haven’t seen any accurate lab results from the water sampling that’s been done.

Some residents say they’re worried government and cleanup crews are scaling back their operations in the valley far too quickly.
