Homicide investigators are calling the death of a 31-year-old man in Surrey’s Clayton Heights neighbourhood a “mystery” unrelated to the region’s ongoing gang conflict.
Surrey RCMP was called to a coach house near 194 Street and 66th Avenue just before 7:20 p.m. Friday night, where a man reported finding his friend dead.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team identified the victim Saturday as Adrian Golofit, adding he was not known to police.
“Given the recent acts of violence, it triggers questions of whether this homicide is in any way linked,” IHIT Sgt. Frank Jang said.
“The answer right now is no.”
Police are holding back any information about the manner of Golofit’s death, and say it’s too early to say if the killing was random.
Jang said the last time friends or family had heard from Golofit was around 8 a.m. Thursday morning, and investigators were now trying to piece together a timeline of his movements and contacts since then.
“We need to learn as much as we can about Adrian, we need friends and associates who haven’t yet come forward to please reach out to us,” he said.
