Taber Corn returns for 2013

Good news for Taber Corn lovers, as the sweet summer treat is up for sale again.

Stands have gone up around southern Alberta a few days earlier than past years.

“I was just turning the corner and I had to turn around and come back,” said one customer in Cardston.

“We love Taber corn,” added another. “For it to be out early, we’re over the moon.”

Many trucks around southern Alberta were half-sold within the first hour on Monday.

Corn lovers are asking how the crop is this year, and according to vendors, it’s pretty good.

Growers had been worried summer hail storms might wreak havoc on the crop.

There may be a slight break after the first batch, which is due to less planting than previous years.

Prices are only up slightly, another 50 cents per dozen.

Taber corn is expected to be available into early September.
