Bracebridge resident charged with impaired driving following fatal crash involving pedestrian

West Parry Sound OPP say a Bracebridge, Ont., resident has been charged with impaired driving following a fatal cash that involved a pedestrian and a vehicle during the early morning hours of Monday.

According to police, a silver SUV was travelling west on Highway 141 in Seguin Township at about 6:30 a.m., when it crashed into and fatally injured a pedestrian.

OPP charged the driver of the vehicle, Mark Jensen, 56, from Bracebridge, with operation causing death and operation while impaired.

The deceased pedestrian has been identified as Robert Carreau, 43, from Rosseau.

The highway was closed following the crash.

Jensen is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on Dec. 3.

The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was seized for further investigation.
