Homicide investigating after body of man found near West Humber Trail in Etobicoke

Toronto police say the body of a man found early Monday is being treated as suspicious.

Emergency services responded to reports of a medical complaint in the area of Highway 427 and West Humber Trail just after 7 a.m.

Police said a jogger discovered the body a man. Investigators said the body showed obvious signs of trauma.

On Tuesday morning, police identified the victim as 39-year-old Rampreet (Peter) Singh. He had been living under a bridge near West Humber Trail in recent months, police added.

West Humber Trail was closed for the investigation.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stopper anonymously.

A command post is being set up to “stimulate witness participation” on Tuesday to gather any information leading to Singh’s death.

“The area of this murder is heavily traveled by pedestrians on foot, on bicycles and rollerblades,” police said in a news release.

This is Toronto’s 48th homicide of 2020.
