The body of a 21-year-old Scarborough woman who fell overboard and into Kempenfelt Bay has been found, South Simcoe Police say.

Officers were called to the government dock at the end of 30th Sideroad in Innisfil, Ont., around 3 p.m. on Tuesday and arrived on scene with Innisfil fire and ambulance, South Simcoe police Sgt. Craig Johnson said.

Police the woman was touring with friends on Kempenfelt Bay when she fell into the water.

Officers say South Simcoe police, Barrie police, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and York Regional Police were deployed immediately but that the search was suspended at 9 p.m. Thursday due to inclement weather conditions and loss of daylight.

The search effort resumed at 9 a.m. Friday and approximately 12 hours later she was found by emergency crews.
