CALGARY – RCMP have arrested a 34-year-old Edmonton man after discovering an astonishing amount of marijuana in a vehicle travelling near Canmore.
The car was stopped on Thursday for a traffic safety violation as it travelled east on Highway 1.
RCMP say the driver was taken into custody after an officer smelled pot.
A search of the vehicle revealed about 300 pounds of cannabis marijuana and three kilograms of MDMA.
The estimated street value of the drugs is over $2 million.
The driver has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
He has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on July 24th.
