Const. Akhil Mooken told reporters the boy’s mother, who was with him when he was struck, and the driver of the delivery van took the child to Mississauga Hospital, which is located a short distance away from the scene. The boy died in hospital.

“How the collision itself occurred is still part of our investigation,” he said.

Police tape blocked off a large section of the parking lot and it wasn’t known where exactly the collision happened.
