TORONTO – Toronto will get a bicycle rental system starting May 3.
Council approved the BIXI program last year that lets riders grab a bike at one station and drop it off at another.
The program will launch with 1,000 bikes, 80 BIXI stations and 1,500 docking points in the downtown core.
Users can get a day pass for $5, or a $40 monthly pass or $95 yearly subscription.
Andrea Garcia with the Toronto Cyclists Union says it’s another positive step in making Toronto more bike-friendly.
She hopes that with more bicycles on the streets, BIXI will act as a catalyst to roll out more bike lanes across the city.
