Autopsy results confirm the deaths of two people pulled from a house fire in Coquitlam are the result of a murder-suicide.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has identified the two victims as Benyoucef Aassen and his wife Agnes Assen.
IHIT says the evidence suggests that Agnes was killed by her husband, prior to the fire being set. He then set the house on fire and investigators believe his cause of death to be a direct result of the fire itself.

The fire broke out at their home in the 1100-block on Cottonwood Avenue in Coquitlam on July 9 just after midnight. Fire crews discovered the two bodies near the back of the home and their deaths were deemed suspicious. Neighbours said the home had recently been sold and the couple was in the process of separating.
