RCMP released the name of a man killed in a highway collision south of Regina early Friday morning.
Troy Michael Zimrose, 32, of Martensville, was killed when his truck and a semi collided on Highway 6 about seven kilometres south of Regina around 3 a.m.
According to RCMP, Zimrose was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was taken to hospital in Regina and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
The highway was closed for several hours as emergency crews cleared the scene.
Road conditions were described as extremely icy at the time of the collision.
Colin Trachsel from ABC Towing says it has been a busy season for recovery crews and drivers need to be more careful on the roads.
“A lot of people not turning off their cruise control, driving too fast,” Trachsel explained. “Most of the trucks I’ve pulled out have still been in high gear.”
