Case against woman charged with infant’s death moving forward

A foster mother facing charges in connection with the death of a 22-month-old boy was in provincial court on Wednesday.

Eunice Wudrich wants her case to be heard by a jury if she goes on trial next year.

Wudrich is accused of criminal negligence causing death after Evander Daniels drowned in a bathtub in June while in her care in Aberdeen, Sask., northeast of Saskatoon.

Daniel’s biological father claims his son’s body was covered in burns at the time of his death. He questions how the boy died.

Wudrich’s lawyer says it was a horrible, tragic event, but argues no crime was committed.

It will be decided next month when Wudrich is back in court whether there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial.
