Campaign has Calgarians saying Hello Regina

Regina’s mayor says the Hello Regina campaign, aimed at convincing Calgarians to move to the Queen City, has been very positive.

According to Pat Fiacco, the likelihood of Calgarians moving to Regina went up from 4.2 per cent to 7.3 per cent. The campaign, which was launched this year, included billboards, posters and ambassadors hitting the streets of Calgary in an attempt to change the perception of Regina.

Messages including, “Goodbye heavy debt, Hello disposable income” and “Goodbye gridlock, Hello home for dinner” were plastered around the city.

Fiacco says the city will use the same marketing ploy in other Canadian cities.

“That will be determined based on the need and what’s happening in some of those other markets, as well,” he said.

Fiacco says that with more jobs than people in the city, they need to figure out where the holes are.

“We want to be a bit more definitive, and then finding out what part of the country is going to best be suited for us to make sure we can fill that need,” Fiacco said.
