SASKATOON – Saskatchewan has rolled out its own anthrax control program to replace the one that was cut by Ottawa earlier this year.
The province’s chief veterinary officer says the lab test for anthrax is performed by Prairie Diagnostic Services in Saskatoon.

The province will also be supplying some carcass-side diagnostic kits to vets in higher-risk areas, and will provide assistance and advice if cases are confirmed.
The national manager for disease control with the CFIA said earlier this year that the agency’s efforts were better directed at controlling emerging or foreign animal diseases than anthrax.
