Southland Mall Safeway opens Asthma Centre

With the growing number of Canadians being diagnosed with asthma, Regina’s Southland Mall introduced the Safeway Asthma Centre to provide information and asthma services.

According to a 2007 Lung Association study, Canadians face a 40 per cent risk of developing asthma before they turn the age of 40.

A certified asthma educator will provide support to parents and children learning to manage with the inflammatory disease.

“The clinic that we offer is unique to Safeway, in that no other chain, no other pharmacy offers the same education,” Shawna Elder, Safeway’s certified respiratory educator said.

The Centre was unveiled on Friday in conjunction with the grand re-opening of Southland Mall’s Safeway after the completion of millions of dollars worth of renovations. It is the first for the company.
