Regina police investigating two more reports of indecent acts

Regina police are asking residents to pay extra attention to what’s going on in their neighbourhoods after two reports of a man looking into windows and exposing himself Thursday night.

One Regina woman, who does not want to be identified, said she saw the perpetrator outside her window.

“This has me really, really, really, really scared,” she said.

The shock has not worn off from what she saw. She says around 1 a.m. she heard a noise outside her window.

“I got up and looked out and all of a sudden I saw a hand,” she explained.

The woman says the man was masturbating outside the window of her Hamilton Street apartment. She screamed and he ran away.

What she did not know was that twenty minutes earlier police responded to a similar complaint from a woman on Montague Street, only a few blocks away.

“It’s crazy and someone better do something about it and they better do it quick,” the woman said.

The new alerts come one day after a man was charged for a similar incident earlier this week in Wascana Park. He was hiding in the bushes watching young kids. Police are not sure if it is the same man.

“We arrested and charged a 58-year-old male from Calgary in connection to an incident at Wascana Park,” Elizabeth Popowich from the Regina Police Service said. “To the best of my knowledge that person returned to Calgary by 4 p.m. yesterday.”

Police are asking residents to take precautions, whether or not the indecent acts are related.

“There’s a great deal people can do around prevention,” Popowich said. “Call police when you see something suspicious. Another thing is keep your doors locked and your blinds drawn.”

Police hope more awareness in the community will help them catch the suspect.
