Special Olympics Saskatchewan to host charity golf tournament

Special Olympics Saskatchewan will hold a charity golf tournament in June to help their athletes succeed on an off the field, organizers announced Tuesday.

The tournament will feature an array of celebrity golfers from the the sports, political and cultural worlds. Already confirmed to attend are Olympic gold medalists Ben Hebert, Jan Betker and Marcia Gudereit and guitarist Jack Semple.

The event was made possible in part thanks to a $15,000 donation from Casino Regina.

All proceeds from the tournament will go to the George Reed Sport Legacy Fund, a charity set up in honour of Reed’s commitment towards intellectually disabled people.

The first annual George Reed Golf Tournament for Special Olympics Saskatchewaan will be held on June 28 at Wascana Country Club.
