PGA Tour expected to drive Saskatoon economy up

SASKATOON – An official with Tourism Saskatoon says the economic spinoff of the Professional Golf Association (PGA) TOUR Canada at a casino south of Saskatoon will be in the millions of dollars.

Randy Fernets says in the past the Dakota Dunes Open has brought in about one-point-five million dollars, but this year because it’s on the PGA TOUR Canada, it’s expected that number will be higher.

Another advantage to big events coming to Saskatoon and area is it gets the city’s name out there.

The Dakota Dunes Open is on this week through Sunday.
