One person is dead and three others injured after a semi and a SUV crashed on Highway 1 just west of Caronport Wednesday evening.
According to RCMP, they were on the scene investigating a semi-trailer that had entered the ditch when the crash happened.
As traffic was passing a patrol car with its emergency lights activated, an eastbound semi-trailer rear ended an eastbound SUV. Both vehicles went into the centre ditch where the SUV then rolled over.
The 76-year-old passenger in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. He was from the Cowessess First Nation.
The 69-year-old female driver of the SUV was taken to hospital in Regina with serious injuries.
The driver of the semi was treated at the scene for minor injuries while the passenger was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP say road conditions were icy at the time of the crash.
No names have been released and police continue to investigate.
