DONATIONS AND FUNDRAISING EVENTS FOR JOSE NETO

Jose Neto, a student from Brazil, was walking in downtown Calgary with his girlfriend when he was shot in the face by a stray bullet. He was an innocent victim of Calgary's growing street violence, simply passing by a group of people that started fighting and shooting.

For those who want to help Jose, a bank account has been set up for donations to help Neto and his family.

The Brazilian Community Association of Alberta would like to thank all people that have contacted them and offered support and donations. They are also organizing activities and events for fund raising.

They are holding a fundraising concert for Neto on Wednesday, November 5th at the Epcor Centre's Jack Singer Concert Hall featuring Brazilian jazz artists Flora Purim and Airto Moreira. Either one of them performing is an event not to be missed. Both of them together will leave you speechless.

Tickets are for sale from $25 to $50 at the Brazilian Community Association of Alberta and can be purchased on the Brazilian Association Website.

A silent auction will be held at EPCOR Centre's Jack Singer Hall – Reception Area from 7pm to 8pm and from 9:15pm to 9:45pm. Live music by Tequila Jazz Band. Donations are still welcome, even of small items. The financial support will help assist with the speedy recovery and rehabilitation of Neto (aimed at minimizing the impact of his life condition, and allowing him to maximize his potential as a productive member of society)
