TORONTO — When Kat was away, did Deadmau5 play?
Reality show star Kat Von D and Canadian DJ Deadmau5 have split up — and she has gone on social media to accuse him of being unfaithful.
“Cheating on your loved one is the most hurtful thing one could do,” she tweeted late Wednesday. “I hate to have to admit, that this relationship is indeed over.”
On Thursday morning, Deadmau5 responded via a message posted on Facebook.
“I was not, at any point, unfaithful to Kat during our time together,” he wrote.
The 32-year-old music producer, whose real name is Joel Zimmerman, admitted to having had a relationship with another woman while he and Von D were briefly separated last November.
“Following that, Kat and I reconciled and I acknowledged being intimate with another person while we were estranged,” he wrote. “We did move past those issues.”
Deadmau5 said it became clear this month that his relationship with Von D “was not working and we mutually ended the engagement.”
Deadmau5, a native of Niagara Falls, Ont., keeps a home in Toronto.
The couple got engaged last December after only a few months together. Von D, 31, was previously engaged to reality show star Jesse James, former husband of actress Sandra Bullock.
During an appearance on Global’s The Morning Show in April, Von D said the couple planned to tie the knot in August.
Both Von D and Deadmau5 seem to be ready to move on.
“Onwards and upwards,” Von D tweeted.
Deadmau5 tweeted: “Now back to music. ok?”
