Kindersley, Sask., mother charged in 2018 death of 1-month-old baby

A mother charged with killing her one-month-old daughter appeared in a Rosetown, Sask., courtroom Thursday morning.

Teenie Rose Steer, 28, was charged on Tuesday with second-degree murder after an 17-month investigation by police.

Kindersley RCMP responded to a report of an infant in cardiac arrest on Sept. 27, 2018. She was pronounced dead in hospital later that day despite life-saving efforts by paramedics and doctors.

The results from an autopsy the following day led investigators to determine the death was suspicious.

Steer, who is from Kindersley, will be back in court on March 12.

She has been ordered not to have any contact with three potential witnesses.

Kindersley is roughly 200 kilometres southwest of Saskatoon.
