The Queen E. pool is set to re-open this summer

Swimming in an outdoor pool may be the last thing on Edmontonians’ minds but in just a few short months the Queen Elizabeth Pool will be opening in it’s new location.

The new pool will be located in Kinsmen park. The total cost for the pool and spray park is $6.5 million

The original pool was built in 1922 but was closed in 2004 when the pool basin developed major cracks.

To celebrate the opening and commemorate the memories from the past, The Friends of the Queen E Pool Society are asking Edmontonians to look for pictures and memorabilia from the old pool. The Pictures that are selected will be displayed in a 6 by 9 foot mural at the new facility. John Stobbe with the Friends of Queen E Society, said "it’s the past that’s pushed [them] to heep working for this pool" and now that they’ve succeeded in saving the pool "it’s the perfect way to regognize the past"
