Mayor of Hudson resigns as Quebec police investigate town’s finances

MONTREAL – The mayor of the town of Hudson has resigned.

Mayor Michael Elliott has tendered his resignation during a controversial period for the town, which is located about 48 km west of Montreal.

Quebec provincial police have been investigating an alleged misappropriation of funds in the town’s finances.

Elliott has refused to comment for now.

The official reason for his departure is health concerns. Elliot, 72, had  heart surgery last year.

Town Councillor Madeleine Hodgson takes over as Hudson’s interim mayor.
