23-year-old woman in life-threatening condition after stabbing at York University campus

A 23-year-old woman has life-threatening injuries after she was stabbed and dragged on York University’s campus Wednesday night, police say.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Assiniboine Road and Evelyn Wiggins Drive, southwest of Keele Street and The Pond Road, at around 10:10 p.m.

A Toronto Paramedics spokesperson told Global News the woman was being taken to a trauma centre in critical condition.

In an update Thursday, police said the victim was walking on a pathway on campus when she was assaulted. Police allege a man knocked her to the ground and then dragged her a short distance. They said the woman was also stabbed.

Police said the canine unit was brought in to help search for a male suspect armed with a knife.

The man is described as being in his early to mid 20s, five-foot-nine to five-foot-eleven, and weighing between 170 and 190 lbs. with black hair. The suspect is described as wearing “stylish” glasses and a puffy jacket at the time of the attack.
