The family of Bob Babki confirmed Sunday night that the alderman elect passed away Saturday from a heart attack. Babki was 68-years-old.
The retired lawyer was one of five new faces preparing to be sworn in to Lethbridge City Council, Monday.
Babki placed second in the aldermanic race with just over 11,000 residents casting a ballot in his name.
Babki was said to have suffered from health problems in the past and was worn down from the campaign.
The swearing in of Lethbridge’s new council will take place Monday.
