Ontario Provincial Police have closed a section of Highway 402 on Wednesday morning following a collision.
Police say the westbound lanes of the highway are closed at Glendon Drive.
Sgt. Laura Lee Brown says officers have responded to four separate collisions involving commercial vehicles near Glendon Drive.
“Clean up and debris removal is still underway so the highway will remain closed for the safety of everyone on scene.”
She says a detour is in place, and they anticipate the highway will re-open sometime later Wednesday morning. Police say at times the westbound traffic was backed up two kilometres.
As for Highway 401, she says emergency crews have been responding to collisions along that stretch of highway as well.
“So many different spots along both provincial highways in the London area where the conditions really change,” said Brown.
“Just because it looks dry and clear right now doesn’t mean that is the case up ahead. You really need to be cautious and adjust your speed accordingly.”
Brown says fortunately there have been no injuries reported at any of the collisions they responded to Wednesday morning.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the London area, saying the region could get as much as 15 centimetres of snow today on top of the four centimetres that fell just after midnight.
