Calgary police retracted a news release issued on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., which pleaded for the public’s help to find a man wanted on domestic warrants.
While police did not provide a specific reason as to why the retraction was necessary, a second news release issued at 4 p.m. said new information was provided to officers that resulted in investigators asking for media coverage to be taken down.
Under normal circumstances, Global News does not unpublish stories in the interest of accountability and transparency but has complied with police on this matter who said it will “help minimize any negative impact on the ongoing investigation.”

In the original news release, police explained that the holidays are a time when officers typically see an increase in domestic conflict and violence.
“Anyone experiencing abuse or violence in an intimate or family relationship is encouraged to reach out for help as these harmful behaviours often become worse over time,” the news release said.
