Emergency crews were called to the front of a home on Sunny Meadow Boulevard, south of Torbram Road and Sandalwood Parkway East, just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officials said a man was taken to hospital by paramedics in critical condition, where he later died.

The man was later identified as 51-year-old Balvinder Bains of Brampton.

Const. Akhil Mooken described the police investigation as “very fluid” and said “there [are] lots of moving parts.”
“Based on some other information [investigators] were able to obtain during the initial stages, the homicide and missing persons bureau was notified and have now taken carriage of this investigation,” he told reporters Thursday morning.

Mooken said a suspect was taken into custody Thursday morning.
