Victoria police are investigating after a 14-year-old skateboarder who wasn’t wearing a helmet was seriously injured after colliding with a vehicle Tuesday morning.
Victoria Police Department spokesperson Bowen Osoko said the boy collided with a car at the corner of Rock Heights Avenue and High Rock Avenue.
He was propelled over the hood of the car and landed heavily on his shoulder and face.

“When traffic officers got to the scene they thought they were looking at a fatality,” Osoko said.
The young man was unconscious at first but regained consciousness and was breathing and oriented when he was taken to hospital. Police said he is in serious condition, but is expected to survive.
Victoria police are reminding sakteboarders and longboarders to wear a helmet and safety gear.
“If this kid was wearing a helmet he probably would have walked away,” Osoko said.
