Buildings evacuated after suspicious package found near Macleod Trail in Calgary

The Calgary Police Service Tactical Unit was called out to deal with a suspicious package in the city’s southeast on Wednesday.

Police said they received reports of the package in a vehicle parked behind a hotel in the 3600 block of Macleod Trail S.E. after 10 a.m.

It prompted LRT closures and the evacuation of nearby buildings, police said.

No devices were found in the vehicle, police said.

A man was taken into custody and charges are pending.

Police said the incident was over at around 3 p.m.
