HALIFAX, N.S. – Jason MacRae pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in a Halifax courtroom this morning, more than five years after his wife’s body was found in the trunk of a car.
Police in Halifax charged MacRae in August 2010 with first-degree murder in the death of his wife Paula Gallant, who was killed in December 2005.
On December 27, 2005 the 36-year old mother of one went out to go shopping. She did not return, and her family reported her missing that night.
Gallant’s body was found in the trunk of her car the following morning.
Gallant’s sisters have worked tirelessly to keep Paula’s case in the public eye.
