Patients from the Royal Alexandra Hospital’s Women’s Centre were relocated to the new Lois Hole Hospital for Women on Sunday.
The new hospital is a five-floor "hospital within a hospital" still located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, but is a much newer facility than the previous Women’s Centre which at 60-years-old is the oldest building on the Royal Alexandra site.
As well as focusing on clinical care, the new hospital will further advance women’s health in Alberta through innovation, research, education and prevention. Located at the $215 million Robbins Pavilion, the new facility will be the first hospital in Alberta entirely dedicated to the health needs of women.
Coming up at 6.00 on the News Hourt we will speak with the parents of one of the last births at the old women’s centre and one of the first births in the new women’s hospital.
