Car slams into south London pharmacy

There was a dramatic scene in south London after a car crashed into a pharmacy on Wednesday morning.

It was shortly after 10 a.m. when the silver vehicle slammed into the Shoppers Drug Mart at 900 Adelaide St. S. at Southdale Road East.

“Our crews arrived to really see nothing when they were in the parking lot however, upon further investigation the vehicle was fully into the store actually by the cosmetics counter,” Platoon Chief Colin Shewell of the London Fire Department told 980 CFPL.

The woman behind the wheel was assessed at the scene by Middlesex London EMS and there were no injuries reported by any pedestrians, shoppers or staff within the store.

Shewell noted it’s very fortunate no one was hurt as it’s a normally busy location.

A damage estimate isn’t available at this time, but Shewell noted the store didn’t appear to have suffered structural damage.

Fire crews were able to assist tow truck operators with removing the vehicle from the store.

It’s unknown what lead the driver to crash into the store and London police haven’t said whether charges are pending in connection with the case.
