HALIFAX – The Canadian Hurricane Centre says the remnants of tropical storm Andrea will bring heavy rain and moderate winds to Atlantic Canada this weekend.
The Halifax-based centre says the storm is expected to dump between 40 to 60 millimetres of rain throughout the southern Maritimes, with wind gusts of up to 70 kilometres per hour in most areas.

Forecasters say rain will begin in western Nova Scotia later today and move through the rest of the province, southern New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island on Saturday.
The storm is expected to move to southwest Newfoundland and Labrador by Saturday evening.
The centre says no significant storm surge is expected with waves of three to four metres along the coast of Nova Scotia, although gale warnings have been issued for all marine waters south of the province.
Andrea hammered Florida with rain, heavy winds, and even tornadoes as it moved toward the coast of Georgia and the Carolinas.
It is the first named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, which typically runs from June until November.
