Alectra Utilities, the city’s electricity distributor, first tweeted about the power outage at around 6:30 a.m. that had initially affected 3,870 customers.

The estimated time of power restoration for the entire area was around 10 a.m. but crews managed to restore power to all residents shortly after 9:30 a.m.

The affected area was from Bramalea Road to Goreway Drive and Sandalwood Parkway East to Bovaird Drive East.

According to Alectra’s website, the cause of the power outage is cited as “defective equipment” but Alectra said crews were working to resolve the issue.

Peel Regional Police said they received multiple calls about traffic lights being out in the area and are reminding motorists to treat those intersections as a four-way stop.
