Toronto police say a pedestrian has life-threatening injuries after being hit by a cement truck in the city’s north-west end on Wednesday morning.
Emergency crews were called to Keele Street and Lawrence Avenue West just before 11 a.m. for reports of a collision.
Police said a 60-year-old man was driving a Mack cement truck eastbound on Lawrence Avenue West and turned to go southbound onto Keele Street when a 24-year-old pedestrian crossing within a marked crosswalk was struck.
Paramedics and police said the man was rushed via an emergency run to hospital in life-threatening condition.
The driver of the cement truck remained on scene, police said.
