TORONTO- The World Wildlife Fund-Canada has announced in a press release that former Toronto Mayor David Miller will become their new President and Chief Executive Officer.
The move will take effect on September 3rd, of 2013.
“I am delighted to join WWF Canada.” said Miller in the release. “WWF is an organization with strong values that seeks solutions to our most pressing environmental challenges. It’s science-based, principled, and has an enviable track record of building innovative partnerships to create those solutions.”
During his time in office, Miller advocated for several green initiatives and brought Earth Hour to Toronto. Since stepping away from politics, he has remained an environmental advocate.
“David comes to WWF with a strong track record on conservation issues. He is a leader who can bring together diverse stakeholders around a common vision for solutions to complex issues,” said Roger Dickhout, Chairman of the Board of Directors of WWF-Canada. “David is a terrific addition to the WWF team who will help us achieve our ambitious conservation objectives.”
WWF has over 150,000 active supporters in Canada.
Miller will transition into his new role over the summer.
