The woman who was caught on video outside the Cloverdale Rodeo spewing racist comments before allegedly attacking an animal rights protester is facing assault charges.
Last month, Langley woman Jennifer Johanson got into an altercation with the protester, during which she allegedly spat on and attacked her.
The protester caught most of the altercation on video and uploaded it to YouTube.
Johanson spoke to Global News after the incident and claims the protester started the fight and told her, ‘I’m not a Hindu, I’m Muslim, and I’m a terrorist and I’m going to bomb your house.’
In the YouTube video the protester can be heard saying “Come here, hit me.”
Johanson then went on a racist rant, according to the video.
“I am… racist, I will… blow your country up,” she said.
In the video, Johanson uses a derogatory term multiple times to describe the protester’s race.
“It’s just a slang that I picked up. I just heard it all around school. It’s just another terminology for East Indian or brown colour, whatever,” Johanson told Global News.
Police said they are completing their investigation and will be forwarding charges to Crown Counsel next week.
