MONTREAL — A bomb disposal robot has been investigating a suspicious package discovered under a car in Montreal early Friday morning.
Police received a call at 3:52 a.m. Friday morning and set up a security perimeter near Valois St., in the neighbourhood of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
Ste. Catherine Street, between Bourbonniere Avenue and Nicolet Street have been closed.
As a precaution nearby buildings were also evacuated.
After a six-hour investigation, police have confirmed that the suspicious package – a pressure cooker, wrapped in duct tape – does not appear to be an explosive device.
