Lightning strikes were captured on camera from the South Okanagan through to the Shuswap.

Here’s a selection of some of the best photos:

Environment Canada said there were around 750 lightning strikes in the Okanagan during the peak of the storm, between 9 and 10 p.m. Saturday.

The weather service said around 13 mm of rain fell in the Vernon area and winds gusting up to 60 km/h were recorded.

The storm also sparked a handful of fires around the Kamloops Fire Centre, which includes the Okanagan.

The small fires were in the Kamloops area, south of Merritt near Highway 5, northwest of Sicamous and near Lillooet.

The blaze nearest to Kamloops has been put out.

On Sunday morning, the BC Wildfire Service said the rainy and cloudy weather was making it hard for crews to access many of the blazes to get a firsthand look.

However, all the remaining fires are believed to be small and not threatening any buildings.
