WINNIPEG – It’s the long awaited opening of Investors Group Field but it likely won’t go ahead without some glitches.
One Heart, a Christian organization is hosting a massive church service this Sunday at the Winnipeg Blue Bombers new home at the University of Manitoba.
“We don’t know how many people to expect, but we have twice as many churches involved this year so we’re guessing 24,000 people,” said Pastor Mark Hughes with Church of the Rock.
This is the first event being held at the new stadium and crews are still rushing to get it ready for Sunday.

“The concessions aren’t done, most of them won’t be open Sunday,” said Jim Bell with the football club.
But the game day rules apply. No food or drinks allowed inside.
“We’ll be handing out water and cold snacks,” said Bell, saying people are still allowed to bring in empty water bottles and one small snack.
Parking will be another challenge, and Sunday will be a true test. On game days and concerts fans are encouraged to take park and ride transit and shuttles the same will apply Sunday instead the park and rides will be at churches like Church of the Rock.
There will be no street parking.
A website was created for fans to find a route that suites them best.
“We know they’ll be challenges,” said Bell, “we just ask our fans for patience. We will monitor the parking situation closely and make changes if necessary.”
The test run on Sunday will be followed by the Bombers exhibition game on June 12 followed by the Taylor Swift concert on June 22.
