Man’s body recovered from Saskatoon river

A search is over for a person who was reported in the South Saskatchewan River.

The Saskatoon Fire Department was alerted to an individual in distress in the area of the Victoria Boathouse at roughly 1:35 p.m. on Aug. 21.

A witness told them the person swam into the water and went under.

Rescue boats equipped with sonar technology and divers were deployed to search below the water’s surface.

The fire department is asking people using the river to void the area.

The fire department confirmed that the body of an adult man was recovered not far from the dock at around 5:40 p.m.

Saskatoon police and the office of the chief coroner are investigating.
