UPDATE: Kelowna RCMP say a couple arguing aboard a boat led to Wednesday night’s emergency response, but, thankfully, no one needed rescuing.

Police say they were alerted to the incident at approximately 6:14 p.m., after witnesses told them a man and a woman had been yelling at each other, with the man jumping overboard at one point. However, he re-boarded the boat after being tossed a lifejacket.

RCMP said they climbed aboard the fire department’s rescue vessel, which was used to locate the man and woman aboard the boat. Rescue crews determined the couple was not in distress or in need of assistance.

“RCMP would like to remind boaters and swimmers to be mindful that their actions, which may be innocent in nature, could inadvertently trigger an emergency response and pull resources away from other situations,” said RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.
