A four-month-old infant died in hospital Wednesday night after being run over by a vehicle, according to Longueuil police.
The incident occurred at 11:25 p.m. at Ciné-Parc Boucherville, a drive-in movie theatre on Montreal’s south shore.
According to police, the child was in a baby tent that was placed on the ground behind the parents’ vehicle while they were packing up their car. The car parked next to them then reportedly backed up and rolled over the infant while driving in reverse.

The infant was rushed to hospital, where police say she succumbed to her injuries.
Longueuil police is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, however officers confirm it was an accident and no criminal activity was involved.
The driver of the vehicle and the police officers that were first on the scene are being treated for shock.
Meanwhile, Cineplex spokesperson Sarah Van Lange acknowledged the incident.
“We’re deeply saddened and offer our support and condolences to the family during this difficult time,” she wrote in a statement.
Cineplex added they are cooperating with police as they complete the investigation.
