Gallery: Transit of Venus

Sky-gazers around the world held up their telescopes and viewing
glasses to watch a once-in-a-lifetime event as Venus slid across the Sun – a rare astronomic event that occurs in pairs, about eight years apart,
roughly once a century. The most recent Venus transit was in 2004, it will not
happen again until 2117.
