“The whole event took 10 minutes,” said Duputy Reeve for Rural Municipality of Ochre River, Clayton Watt, “residents heard it coming and ran out their back doors.”
No one was hurt.
The R.M has declared a state of Emergency.
The winds were very strong Friday around 6 pm and residents heard the ice crack and quickly pile up higher than their homes along the shore.
Watt says roughly 12 homes are destroyed, 10 are damaged.
“It’s devastating for this area. They just rebuilt after a flood two years ago.” said Watt.
