Environment Canada meteorologists issued the watches and warnings at 5:27 p.m. on Sunday and said they were tracking “a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado.”

Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible.

The weather agency says just after 9 p.m., Doppler Radar indicated strong rotation on a thunderstorm between Bengough and Big Beaver.

According to Environment Canada, the thunderstorm is moving southeastward.

According to the statement, “this is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation” and “people should take cover immediately.”

Environment Canada says if you hear “a roaring sound or see a funnel cloud, swirling debris near the ground, flying debris, or any threatening weather approaching, take shelter immediately.”

The weather agency says residents should go indoors to a room on the lowest floor away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet.

Officials say to leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter and move to a strong building if possible.

“As a last resort, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris,” the statement reads.

To report severe weather, send an email to SKstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #SKStorm.
