Just before 8:30 a.m., crews were called to the scene of the crash.

Two occupants were able to escape the aircraft, and there were no injuries reported, fire officials said.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada says the aircraft was homemade.

“The aircraft was destroyed which is unfortunate but the good news is that both people on board survived and based on that we had two survivors and an amateur built aircraft,” says Chris Krepski, a spokesperson for the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.

Crews were able to douse the flames from the fire shortly after arriving.

RCMP are continuing to investigate.
