Man dead after reports of stabbing in Parkwoods: Toronto police

A man died Thursday morning after reports of a stabbing near Parkwoods Village Drive and Gisburn Road, police say. Global News

Toronto police say a 61-year-old man has died after reports of a stabbing in the east end of the city on Thursday morning.

Emergency crews received a call just after 7:30 a.m. for reports of a stabbing near Ellesmere Road and Victoria Park Avenue.

Police said the man was found with injuries, was unconscious and not breathing. However, in the afternoon Thursday police told Global News that the nature of the man’s injuries are unclear.

The man was pronounced dead on scene, paramedics said.

Investigators said the man did reside at the apartment building where the incident occurred.

Police said the death is being treated as suspicious and the homicide squad has been notified, but has not yet taken over the investigation.

There is no word if police are searching for a suspect and details about the victim have not been released.

Police said there is no threat to public safety.
